
Manipur Congress Legislature Party members led by O Ibobi
Singh and Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam with Ajay Kumar Bhalla in Imphal on
Wednesday.
- IMPHAL — Manipur
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla held meetings with various groups on Wednesday,
including Congress leaders, senior police officials, and university faculty.
- Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and Lok Sabha MP Dr.
Angomcha Bimol Akoijam led a Congress Legislature Party delegation to meet with
the Governor. They discussed the challenges faced by the people of Manipur and
offered suggestions which were welcomed by the governor. He also urged for
collective efforts for the state’s welfare.
- The Manipur Raj Bhavan confirmed the meeting on social
media, highlighting the discussion of challenges and suggestions, with a post
that read: “Congress Legislature Party members, led by O. Ibobi Singh and MP Dr
Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, called on Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar
Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal. They discussed the challenges faced by the
people of Manipur and shared suggestions, which the Governor welcomed, urging
collective efforts for the welfare of the state.”
- Governor Bhalla reviewed the implementation of three new
criminal laws in the state with senior officers, including the Director General
of Police (DGP) and the Commissioner (Home).
- Earlier, the governor flagged off a National Integration
Tour for college students and youth, organised by the Assam Rifles. The tour,
from January 8 to the 16th, will take 20 participants (14 boys and 6 girls) to
Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam to experience India’s diverse culture and heritage.
The governor wished them a successful and safe journey.
- Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Dr. Rameshori from Manipur
University and two others also met with the Governor, discussing aquaculture
projects aimed at supporting farmers and entrepreneurs. She provided an
overview of the state’s fishery industry and invited the Governor to inaugurate
a new hatchery at the university. The Governor expressed his appreciation and
pledged support for the university’s efforts.
