
IMPHAL — Manipur government has announced summer vacation for all schools under state board and higher secondary council from May 4 to the 30th.
Disclosing this while addressing a press conference in Imphal at state DIPR office, state education and legislative affairs minister Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh informed that the colleges under the Manipur University will also have a similar summer vacation from May 15 to June 5, 2023.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Basantakumar said that the move was initiated as most of the educational institution premises were occupied by the security forces. More than 50 companies of the paramilitary forces and 105 columns of army and Assam rifles are presently stationed in the state to assist the state authority in maintaining law and order situation.
Participating in the press conference, Information & public relations minister Dr. S Ranjan Singh said that the state is relatively peaceful with no new incidents reported on Tuesday.
Stating that confidence building initiatives and necessary surveillance activities are on in the state, he informed that as many as 6000 stranded people have reached their respective destinations during the ongoing evacuation process. At the same time 1930 outstation students who are studying in the central institutions in the state were also evacuated to their respective destinations.
Only about 4000 people are taking shelter at the temporary relief centres across the state, he added.
Updating on the number of surrendered arms which were snatched away from the security forces during the recent violence, he said that 247 arms and 4679 ammunition were surrendered as on Tuesday.
He informed that the state authority has increased the curfew relaxation hours for 4 to 5 hours in almost all the districts with the improvement of the situation in the state.
