IMPHAL, March 22
An international media exposure tour participated by representatives of Editors’ Guild, Manipur (EGM) was formally flagged here by Manipur Chief Secretary Oinam Nabakishore Singh today.
The trip aimed at exploring neighbouring countries of South East Asia in the backdrop of Government of India’ Act East Policy. The function was held at the DIPR complex, Moirangkhom.
DGP of Manipur LM Khaute also attended the flagging-off ceremony.
Chief Secretary Nabakishore hoped the tour would provide a window of opportunity to the editors to personally understand the changing scenario in the South East Asian countries.
He said the tour would also immensely benefit the region with regard to the larger aspect of the Act East Policy. The Manipur Chief Secretary added that the 13-member team would interact with journalists at Bangkok, Thailand during the first ever trip of the editors of print and electronic media from Manipur.
DGP Khaute said the media team would build cordial relationship with their counterparts at Bangkok where it would experience the whole new field of technology and trade and commerce.
EGM president A Mobi Singh, who was part of the team, stated that the tour would help building a close tie with the South East Asian countries and India, particularly the state of Manipur.
Among others, the team comprises Sangai Express (Manipuri) editor Khogendro Khomdram, Poknapham editor A Robindro Sharma, Hueiyen Lanpao editor Ningombam Hemanta Singh, Impact TV editor Yumnam Rupachandra Singh and Manipur Mail editor A Sanatomba.
