Manipur ECI delegation holds productive meeting with Finnish Ministry of Justice officials in Helsinki.

IMPHAL — Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur Pooja Elangbam led an ECI delegation from Manipur in a productive meeting with Finnish Ministry of Justice officials and stakeholders in Helsinki.
The visit, aimed to foster mutual learning on electoral processes and democratic governance, was held from December 7 to the 12th.
DC Pooja presented an overview of India’s electoral system, while Finnish officials shared insights into Finland’s election management practices. The dialogue focused on innovations in voter registration, technology use, and accessibility.

The delegation, which included Somaya A Shimrah, booth level officer under ECI and headmaster at ADC Ukhrul, also interacted with Demo Finland; a cooperative think tank of Finland’s political parties committed to advancing democratic values. Discussions explored strategies to strengthen participatory democracy and civic engagement.
At the University of Helsinki, the delegation discussed Finland’s political history and institutional frameworks with faculty members, gaining valuable perspectives on sustaining democratic traditions.
The visit aimed to strengthen institutional collaboration and promote Knowledge exchange through engagements with Finnish policymakers, election authorities, and subject experts.
