Manipur displays 1,422 recovered arms, 7,010 ammunition rounds and 1,137 explosives as CM announces 15-day surrender window
IMPHAL — Manipur authorities on Wednesday displayed 1,422 recovered arms, 7,010 rounds of ammunition and 1,137 explosives seized during security operations between February 5 and August 11, 2026.
The recovered weapons and explosives were displayed at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal in the presence of security and law-enforcement agencies operating under the Home Department.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh gave those possessing illegal arms and ammunition 15 days to surrender them, warning that those who failed to use the opportunity would face legal action.
Khemchand emphasised the importance of dialogue, saying peace and reconciliation remained the only sustainable path towards restoring normalcy and accelerating development in Manipur.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, Army and other security agencies in maintaining security and supporting peace initiatives across the state.
Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam highlighted the government’s ongoing peace initiatives and issued a stern warning to extortionists operating along the national highways.
He urged those involved in extortion and other illegal activities to immediately stop such practices, warning that failure to do so would invite action under applicable laws.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, Art and Culture Minister Kh Loken, senior Manipur Police officials and senior representatives of the Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF and Army.
The display comes amid the state government’s efforts to curb illegal arms and activities and create conditions for restoring peace and normalcy in violence-affected Manipur.
