Imphal, July 25 (EMN): The results of the class 12 examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) were declared in Imphal on Saturday with maximum students securing first division.
Altogether 16,395 students passed the examination in first division while 13,100 students cleared the examination in second division and 1557 in third division. 22 students were declared simple pass. Overall pass percentage including Arts, Science and Commerce streams is 99.80 percent.
The districts of Bishnupur, Kamjong, Pherzawl, Ukhrul and Chandel recorded 100 percent results. Imphal West recorded the highest number of students registering 11,082 candidates for the examination while Pherzawl recorded the lowest with just four students registering for the examination.
This time, a total of 31,195 students including 21,387(Science), 9,061 (Arts) and 747 (Commerce) students enrolled for the examination this year. Out of them, the assessment report was received from a total of 31,136 students.
Out of this, the results of 62 candidates were withheld. 59 candidates are waiting for a conducive atmosphere for the subject improvement examination. Applications of 972 students await to be submitted to the council. The last date for submission of the application is July 31.
On June 16, the state government cancelled the class 10 and 12 board examinations for the academic year 2020-21 in view of the uncertain conditions due to Covid-19 pandemic in Manipur. As a result, the COHSEM declared the result after taking certain parameters into consideration. No ranks were announced. The result can be viewed at https://manresults.nic.in/hse/index.htm.
Declaring the results of the examinations based on the assessment report submitted by concerned schools at the COHSEM office in Imphal, the state Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh, who also holds the Fisheries portfolio, said that Now Manipur becomes the first state in the country to declare the results of class-12 prior to the Central Board of Secondary Education.
The result of the examination was declared before the deadline made by the Supreme Court, which is July 31 following collective effort of the Education department and concerned authorities.
