IMPHAL — The Congress party in Manipur on Thursday has called for the dissolution of the state assembly and the holding of fresh elections to resolve the ongoing crisis, alleging that the ruling party has failed to restore peace even after two years.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan in Imphal, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra alleged that the country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resembles an undeclared national emergency
The MPCC chief also criticised the Modi government for failing to deliver on its promises, including those related to employment, and accused the BJP of misleading the public.

Meghachandra, who is also the sitting MLA of Wangkhem constituency in Thoubal district, expressed disappointment that the Prime Minister prioritises electoral benefits over addressing the ongoing violence and hardships faced by citizens.
The MPCC chief highlighted Manipur's struggles with violence, floods, and financial crisis, attributing Congress MP’s Angomcha Bimol Akoijam's recent victory to the BJP MLAs' silence on the state's issues in Parliament.
