Imphal, Feb. 8 : The Bishnupur district’s police commandoes, of the Manipur police department, have arrested two active cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Poirei Meitei) during a search operation in Kabowakching area on January 6 afternoon, according to a press release here.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Sanjenbam Ningthem Singh (40) and Wankhem Bihari Singh (34) both from of Awang Jiri Mayai Leikai, said the PRO of the police department in the press release.
Incriminating articles along with one extortion letter and a Honda Activa (MN05B-7688) were seized from the possession of W Bihari Singh.
Investigation revealed that the two apprehended persons were involved in serving extortion letters in the Nambol area. A complaint has been registered at Nambol police station for further investigation, it was informed.
On the same day, a combined team of the Bishnupur district police commandos and the 165th Territorial Army conducted frisking at Thanga Ngaram Machin around 7.30pm and arrested one active member of the banned People’s Liberation Army / Revolutionary People’s Front namely Naorem Indrakumar Meitei (36), of Nambol Naorem Panthoibi Leika under Bishnupur district.
Incriminating articles were also seized from his possession, it was informed. Investigation revealed that Indrakumar was involved in various heinous crimes. A case has been registered at Keibul Lamjao police station for further investigation, the release added.
