Imphal, April 4 (EMN): In a significant move, the sum of the Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) health scheme has been increased to INR five lakh from the existing INR two lakh.
Announcing this during a press conference on Monday, chief minister Biren Singh said that the increase will take effect from today as the cabinet had already taken a decision in this regard recently.
The step has been taken up with the success of CMHT in the past four years, wherein more than 83,000 beneficiaries have received benefits of free hospitalisations up to INR two lakh per family per year. So far, 5.24 lakh beneficiaries have been enrolled under this health insurance scheme for the poor and vulnerable families of the state since its implementation, he said.
Currently, a total of 47 hospitals including 33 public hospitals, 13 private hospitals and one private hospital outside the state, are providing free hospitalisation benefits to the beneficiaries.
Biren Singh said that the ‘Health for All’, a door-to-door health screening for primary health care and chronic disease management, which is the first of its kind in the Northeast has so far covered 300 villages.
Now all villages of the state would be covered soon, he said and informed that the state government had launched the sub-division Development Monitoring Mission to scale up inclusive growth and development in all the 68 sub-divisions of the State.
The prabhari officers, who were appointed among the IAS and state civil services officers, in coordination with local leaders would conduct a family wise survey and identify the needs of the people to provide a source of livelihood for every household, he said.
Informing that the prabhari also has to work on “One sub-division, One Product”, he said, “For this the state cabinet had approved to increase the corpus fund for Manipur StartUp from earlier INR 30 crore to INR 100 crore.”
On the recently launched “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain” campaign, he said rain water harvesting methods would be set up in all offices, institutions and schools to conserve water apart from the officials concerned to work for conserving wetlands. The steps would also be initiated to take action against illegal construction carried out on paddy land after 2014 to save agricultural land, he added.
Cabinet ministers Thongam Biswajit (Power), Yumnam Khemchand (Rural Development and Panchayati Raj), Govindas Konthoujam (Works), chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar and other government officials attended the press conference.
