Yumnam Khemchand Singh reviews ICAR initiatives to boost food security and farmer empowerment in the state.

IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on March 31 said that the government remained committed to working in close collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to ensure food security, empower farmers, and meet the growing demands of the population.
The chief minister held a meeting with officials of ICAR, led by S Basanta, head of ICAR, Northeastern Hill Region Imphal Centre, to review ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in the state.

Sharing photographs of the meeting on X, Khemchand wrote, “With a strong network of Krishi Vigyan Kendras across all districts, ICAR continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening our agricultural ecosystem—promoting improved farming techniques, boosting rice productivity, supporting sustainable livelihoods, and addressing region-specific challenges through research and capacity building.”
The meeting is seen as part of ongoing efforts to further strengthen agriculture in the state through coordinated institutional support and innovation-driven practices.
Khemchand also attended the 32nd annual ritual ceremony of Khwangjeng Lairemba Lairembi Haraoba at the District Police Headquarters Complex, Imphal West, an occasion imbued with deep sacredness and spiritual purity.
