Manipur Chief Minister meets Nitin Gadkari, seeks early approval for Elevated Highway and reviews key national highway projects

IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday called on Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at his official residence in New Delhi and briefed him on the steps taken by the state government to resolve long-pending issues concerning the Imphal–Jiribam and Imphal–Dimapur national highways.
The chief minister also requested the Union minister for the early sanction of the proposed Elevated Highway project, to which Gadkari reportedly gave a positive response.
Regarding National Highway-37 (Imphal–Jiribam Road), Khemchand Singh informed Gadkari that land compensation in Noney district had been approved by the state Cabinet following a revised survey and that work on the project had commenced.
On the Imphal–Dimapur highway, he said that issues related to Kangpokpi district had been resolved and that the state Cabinet had approved a special package to facilitate the project.
The chief minister further informed Gadkari that land-related issues continue to affect the Imphal–Ukhrul–Jessami highway project and that the state government is engaging with stakeholders to expedite their resolution.
In a social media post, Khemchand Singh wrote, “Today, I called on Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, and briefed him on the initiatives undertaken by the government of Manipur to resolve long-pending issues related to the Imphal–Jiribam and Imphal–Dimapur National Highways.”
