Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh reviews Imphal River rejuvenation and eco-embankment works.

IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, on Saturday inspected the rejuvenation work of Imphal River being carried out at different sites along the river. The rejuvenation work is to make the river water clean and reduce its biochemical oxygen demand (BOD).
The chief minister took stock of the ongoing eco-embankment work being constructed along the Imphal River near the Lamlong Bridge. The eco-embankment work, stretching a span of 100 meters, has been taken up on a pilot project to reduce the bank erosion and improve water quality.
Singh was accompanied by the principal secretary of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Arun Kumar Sinha; director of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. T Brajakumar Singh; and other concerned officials.

The chief minister also visited Khurai Salanthong and inspected the development work being taken up at Pangei road. During interacting, he directed the implementing agency to expedite the development work for timely completion and to ease the hardship faced by the public due to bad road conditions.
Earlier, the chief minister visited Singjamei Oinam Thingel and inspected the ongoing embankment wall construction along the Imphal River.
