
N Biren Singh distributing benefits to labour card holders

Chief Minister N Biren Singh distributed financial aid to displaced labourers
at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal on Wednesday.
- The assistance, totalling INR 28,910,000, was disbursed to
approximately 5,225 individuals through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Each
family of internally displaced persons (IDPs) with valid labour cards and
residing in relief camps received a one-time payment of INR 5,000.
- The event was organised by the Manipur Building and Other
Construction Workers’ Welfare Board under the Department of Skills, Labour,
Employment and Entrepreneurship, Government of Manipur.
- During his address, the Chief Minister emphasised the
importance of unity and working for the betterment of the state and its people.
He praised the initiative for its transparency and accountability, highlighting
various citizen-centric schemes launched by the BJP-led government.
- Singh mentioned the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang
(CMHT) health scheme, launched in 2018 to assist the poor and needy, and the
Chief Minister Sotharabasin-gi Tengbang for persons with disabilities. He also
noted that thousands of families have benefited from the “One Family One
Livelihood Scheme” and that 500 youths would receive skills training in Delhi
for cabin crew placements, funded by the Ministry of Tourism, with priority
given to IDPs. He added that around 17 startups have already employed
approximately 432 IDPs.
- The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to
relocate those affected by conflict to safer areas, including the construction
of prefabricated houses in the Phubala area, with around 2,500 units already
occupied.
- Several government ministers including Th. Biswajit Singh
(Forest), Govindas Konthoujam (Works), Leishangthem Susindro Meitei (Consumers
Affairs), Th. Basantakumar Singh (Education), MLAs, and officials attended the
programme, along with residents of relief camps.
