Our Correspondent Imphal, Sep. 21 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to both the villagers of Makhan and Maram Khullen of Senapati district to maintain calm and refrain from violence. The appeal was made during a press conference held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal on Saturday. The chief minister appealed the two villages to resolve the dispute through meaningful dialogue and work together. On September 17, more than a dozen houses at Makhan Khuman village, about 80 km north of Imphal in Senapati district were burnt down by armed miscreants, which police have attributed to long existing inter-village land dispute. Singh informed that the state government has already held a meeting with one group and would be holding a meeting with the other group soon to resolve the situation. Ministerial team would be sent to the area in the district, if required, he said. The chief minister also informed that prohibitive order under section 144 of CrPC has been imposed to control the situation and to maintain peace in the area.
