Tamenglong Orange Festival from December 17


IMPHAL — Manipur’s Churachandpur district administration has once again urged the public to submit damage assessment forms to facilitate verification and processing of compensation for families displaced from their respective districts.


Addressing a press meet on Tuesday evening at his office chamber in Churachandpur town, 65km south of Imphal, Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S of Churachandpur said that as of today, a total of 2179 forms have been submitted to district which belongs to other districts — Imphal West (628), Imphal East (179), Chandel (462),Tengnoupal (29), Kangpokpi (833), Ukhrul (6), Bishnupur (5), Jiribam (30),Tamenglong (1),Senapati (5), and Kakching (1).


“If there are any more families who have not submitted their forms, please approach the nearby sub-divisional officer’s office,” the DC said.


DC office Churachandpur has sent the forms to the respective DC offices for necessary action. The district administration assured that all possible efforts will be made to extend assistance to all eligible beneficiaries in a fair, transparent, and timely manner.


Meanwhile, in its continued effort to ensure the well-being of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the DC, accompanied by Additional DC Seiminthang Lenthang, CEO of Additional DC Lalthazam and Sub-Divisional Officer Saikot Alfred L Khaute, visited the inmates of a relief camp located near the Sehken dumping site on Tuesday.

During the visit, the team distributed essential rations items, blankets, and winter thermals to the camp residents as part of the district administration’s ongoing initiative to provide relief and support to displaced families.


The deputy commissioner also interacted with the inmates and assured them of the administration’s continued assistance and unwavering commitment to their welfare.

Tamenglong Orange Festival from December 17


The Tamenglong district administration will be organising the 18th Orange Festival from December 17 to the 19th this year.


To ensure smooth conduct of the festival, Deputy Commissioner Dr. L Angshim Dangshawa of Tamenglong district chaired a meeting at the conference hall, Mini Secretariat, Tamenglong headquarter, on Tuesday.


The meeting was attended by SP Tamenglong Lanmiyo Luikham;  D Meidinbui, SDO Tamenglong; CEO of ADC Kachamthai F Gangmei;  Kh. Hitler, DFO Tamenglong; and various district-level officials.


Altogether, 22 sub-committees were formed for smooth preparation and successful organisation of the Orange Festival.


The deputy commissioner, who is also the chairman of the festival, informed the gathering to work diligently and sincerely for the grand success of the festival.


The 3-day festival includes contest for best orange growers and ‘Orange Queen,’ camping and adventure at different tourist spots, musical night, Tamenglong Got Talent, seminar for orange growers, etc.
