Imphal, Jan. 21 (EMN): A parade by 59 contingents and other events marked the 47th Statehood Day celebrations in Manipur at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles parade ground on Sun.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, along with legislators and top officers of the state attended the colourful event.
Speaking during the occasion, Chief Minister Biren said that the government had taken serious note of the twin blasts which occurred near M-Sector on Kanglapat road on January 15, 2018. He said that the matter had already been placed before the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh.
Greeting the people on the occasion, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers and chief ministers of different states had also sent warm wishes to the people of Manipur.
On a note of advice for people, the chief minister urged against harassment or kidnapping for ransom especially of government officials who are involved in development works. He urged the public not to criticise on community and religion lines which he said may incite enmity among different communities. Further, the chief minister appealed to the political parties not to engage in politics by provoking hatred and dividing the people.
Stating that the present government had kept its doors open to all the organisations for dialogue, the chief minister urged them not to clamp any strikes without highlighting their grievances to the government first.
Also, Singh said running the government in a transparent and responsible manner is essential to accelerating development. The chief minister said that the state’s government had not only set up an anti-corruption police station and an anti-corruption cell but also opened a grievances redress cell.
The anti-corruption cell at the CM’s Secretariat has received more than 500 complaints, he said adding that action had been initiated for 165 cases so far.
