Former state Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday said that the state BJP is requesting the central leadership to restore a popular government in Manipur.

IMPHAL — Amid ongoing political uncertainty in Manipur, former state Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday said that the state BJP is requesting the central leadership “to restore a popular ministry in the state of Manipur.
Singh made this remark while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event at BJP state unit office in Imphal.
“We’re concentrating only on the present crisis. We’re appealing to the central government and concerned persons to bring an amicable solution and to bring peace in the state of Manipur,” he said.

“In the meantime, we’re also requesting the concerned to restore a popular ministry in the state of Manipur. Everybody wants to restore peace. Since the last seven to eight months, there’s no reports of any unwanted incidents, which is a sign of a return of peace.”
On June 26, BJP legislator Kh Ibomcha, after holding a meeting with the BJP Manipur Pradesh President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, said that the party legislators in Manipur and central leaders are making necessary efforts for the installation of a popular government in the state.
BJP MLA and former Rural Development Minister Yumnam Khemchand was also present during in the meeting.
A delegation of 10 ruling MLAs met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on May 28, discussing the formation of a popular government in Manipur, which has been under President's Rule since February 13.
