Manipur bags overall champ title

Correspondent IMPHAL, Sept 21 Manipur bagged the overall team champion title of the 15th North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition which concluded here with a valedictory function at the Kangla Rock & Sport Climbing Wall of MMTA in Imphal. Manipur topped the medal tally with 8 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze while Tripura stood second with 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze. Mizoram took third with 3 silver and 2 bronze. Nagaland could not open its medal account in the event. Altogether 77 climbers from seven north eastern states including Manipur(18), Nagaland(2), Mizoram(20), Assam(9), Arunachal Pradesh(5), Meghalaya(5) and Tripura (18) participated in the championship which was held under the aegis of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA). The valedictory function of the competition was held with MLA W Brajabidhu of Lamshang assembly constituency as the chief guest. Former MMTA president RK Ranendrajit, Rajkumar Ranjan, present MMTA President Dr L Surjit, founder secretary MMTA Th Thambou also attended the closing function.
