Manipur are runners-up at power lifting

Imphal, June 2 (EMN): Manipur power lifting team bagged the runners-up title at the Sub-Junior and Master National Power lifting Championship which was held at KMG College of Arts and Science in Tamil Nadu last month.

The championship was held under the aegis of Indian Power lifting Federation at Gudiyattam in Tamil Nadu from May 27 till the 31st.Manipur team managed to bag a total of 4 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal to finish second runners-up.

Th Ibemhal lifted 60 kg in squat, 30 kg in bench press and 55 kg in dead lift events for the Master-3, 57 kg category; Khumujam Devikarani (47 kg Master-1 class) who managed 70 kg lift in squat event, 40 kg in bench press and 70 kg in dead lift to make it a total of 180 kg; Th Kunjarani (Master-4, 68 kg) lifted 60 kg in squat, 40 kg in bench press and 80 kg in dead lift, and K Ibempishak Devi (Master-4, 72 kg) managed 50 kg in squat, 30 kg in bench press and 70 kg in dead lifting won gold medal for the state in the championship.

Wakila who is representing Manipur in the sub-junior girls 84 kg category managed (130 kg squat, 52.5 in bench press and 150 kg in deadlift); Nameirakpam Maipakpi (Master-2, 72 kg; 70 kg in squat, 30 kg in bench press and 70 kg in dead lifting) and Ahanthem Suni (Master-2, 72 kg; 60 kg in squat, 30 kg in bench press and 60 kg in dead lift) bagged the silver medals.

Huirem Ibempishak on the other hand bagged the lone bronze medal after she finished third in the Master-2 68 kg event by making 50 kg in squat, 35 kg in bench press and 70 kg in dead lifting.
