[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t is a big day for the people of Nagaland. The most powerful man of the country is here. He means a lot to the state and the Nagas at the moment. In fact, Mr Modi is the person of the moment. In these two days the Nagas are trying their best to impress the ‘Man of the moment.’ When he graces the great Hornbill Festival at Kisama, off Kohima on Monday Mr. Modi will definitely touch on the Naga political issue. And every word that he utters on the decades old issue on Monday will come down in the history of the Nagas because the issue is expected to be settled during the present NDA government tenure. Mr Modi is the key man to make things roll on the issue.
Besides, Narendra Modi will definitely announce economic packages for the financially crunched state of Nagaland. The Rs 1234 crore deficit is likely to be a thing of the past after the great Hornbill Festival. The visit of Mr Modi to Nagaland will ‘be historic and will begin a new era for peace and development in the State’ if we have to borrow the words of Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio and Rajya Sabha MP Khekiho Zhimomi.Meanwhile, improving health care centres should be one of the priorities of Mr Modi. Condition of roads should be focused. We would also like the Prime Minister to put his attention on the drinking water scarcity problem in the state capital Kohima and numerous other towns and villages of Nagaland. Infrastructure of education institutions in the state is one area the Prime Minister should also focus on. The lone airport of Nagaland at Dimapur is one of the most pathetic airports even in the North East region and we would like Mr. Modi to do something about it.
