A man, whom the Dimapur police have identified as one Vikas Kachari, allegedly killed his wife and son, aged around 8-9 years, on Thursday night at Kirha village near the airport junction here in Dimapur. The suspect is still absconding.
According to a Dimapur police statement, the victims were found “in a pool of blood with deep cut wounds on their necks” suspected to have been inflicted by a machete. Another son, aged around 4-5 years, was also found injured with cut wounds on his neck. He has been admitted to a hospital.
Police said that they were informed of the crime at around 9.30 pm on Thursday. The victims have been identified as Laxmi (the wife) and Tunu (the son). A case has been registered at Diphupar police station and a hunt for the suspect is on.
Meanwhile police authorities have also appealed the citizens to share any information related to the absconding suspect.
Corpse recovered from Chathe
In another case, Dimapur police on Thursday fished out a corpse from Chathe River at Seithike Basa. The victim has been identified as one Sumit Gupta of Suriajan, who according to the police “owned a Wagon-R car which he drove for rental.” He went missing after he had come to Dimapur to transport “some passengers.” Police authorities stated that investigation to trace the vehicle and the perpetrators of the crime is under progress.
