Dimapur Police arrest man accused of posing as a CBI official and cheating job seeker with fake Luxembourg offer
DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police have arrested a 62-year-old man for allegedly cheating a job aspirant of INR 1.5 lakh on the promise of an overseas job in Luxembourg and impersonating officials of different organisations.
The accused, identified as Tarun Lachmandas Ramnani, was arrested by Dimapur East Police on September 5. He has been booked under Sections 318(4), 319(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for alleged cheating, cheating by impersonation and criminal intimidation.
In an update, police alleged that Ramnani had introduced himself as the “District President of Dimapur East Nagaland Anti-Corruption (ORG)” and approached a job seeker with an offer of employment in Luxembourg.
According to the police, he collected INR 1.5 lakh from the victim on January 15, claiming that the money was needed for processing the job. He allegedly later provided a forged certificate in the name of “Mama Shelter Luxembourg” and demanded another INR 1 lakh to complete the placement.

Police also recovered an identification card during his arrest bearing the name “CBI (Central Bureau of Intelligence)”, which allegedly described Ramnani as the agency’s “Nagaland State Director”.
Dimapur Police have appealed to anyone who may have been approached or duped by the accused, or who has information about him, to contact East Police Station, Dimapur.
