DIMAPUR — The Excise Mobile Squad has apprehended one Peter Yim for possession of a total of 1,75,140 contraband tablets in Chümoukedima on September 1.
According to an update, around 8:30 am, the squad personnel on excise and prohibition duty, led by assistant inspector Renbeni Yanthan, intercepted a Mahindra Scorpio bearing the number AS01FF 3096 near Molvam village, Chümoukedima.
Upon searching the vehicle, the contraband tablets were found concealed inside the seats and door pockets. The accused could not produce a license or invoice for the drugs.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was on its way to Tseminyu. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the case has been forwarded to the court for trial.
