Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): Mon Forest Division Mon organized a program on man-animal conflict mitigation awareness campaign at Naginimora, with a Chairman of Nagaland Pollution Control Board Meyipokyim, IFS as chief guest.
The chief guest in his speech highlighted the scenario of human- animal conflicts occurring in different parts of the country and how problems can be mitigated by reducing the interface between men and animals. He also emphasized on the intricate relationships of human and wildlife by citing an example that without honey bees, mankind will be diminished from this planet within a span of 50 years.
Chief Wildlife Warden, S.P Triparthi, IFS in his key note address, presented various facets of man-animal conflict across the state and called upon the people to work together to mitigating problems.
Resource persons, Beizo Soukhrie, Dimapur Division and Obed Bohovi Swu, NZP Dimapur spoke on various issues of man-animal conflicts and mitigating strategies in the state.
DFO, Mon stressed the need to preserved wildlife and forests for future generation. The village Councils who is a self-governing institution at the grassroot level has a pivotal role to play in the efforts of preserving our rich forests & wildlife in order to mitigate this undesirable interface in the future, he added.
Village Council members from 35 villages in and around Tizit and Naginimora areas, public leaders, church leaders, District Administration and Forest Department staff participated in the program.
