Dimapur, Oct. 25: A non-Naga man was found guilty for allegedly attempting to rape a woman on Thursday October 25 at Chumukedima in Dimapur.
A report from the Chumukedima Town Mothers’ Association (CTMA) informed about the incident on Thursday stating that the accused, Taposh Das, was found guilty to have ‘forcefully attempted to rape a Naga girl by pulling her and exposing his private parts.’
The incident occurred at ward no-6, Chumukedima town. The president of CTMA, Dievilhoutuonuo Thakro, told Eastern Mirror that the incident occurred in the morning hours between 9 am and 10 am.
Other details about the incident were not provided. Thakro said that further action will be taken on Friday Oct. 26 and assured to provide the details then.
The report stated that after a thorough questioning by the association, the culprit was handed over to the police.
The accused and his family were given ten days to leave Chumukedima town. ‘Hereafter, if Taposh Das and his family are seen within Chumukedima jurisdiction, the association shall not be held responsible for any consequences,’ it added.
