Adding colours to the occasion, Goodwill ambassador of Greensight Project, Imlibenla Wati, beauty queen and active social worker, planted a ‘Japanese cherry blossom white’ tree followed by plantation of more superior ornamental tress by the MALT Greensight Committee along with Mopungchuket village council leaders and Mokokchung Press Club.
A catalogue handed over by the MALT stated that Greensight Project’ is ‘a 5- year scenic enhancement programme, an initiative of the Mopungchuket Ait Lairshir Telungjem (MALT), and the students’ union of Mopungchuket village under Mokokchung district of Nagaland state. The project launched on July 26, 2016, will culminate in 2021.
The Goodwill ambassador, Imlibenla Wati, who is also related to Mopungchuket village through maternal linkage, lauded MALT for their commendable ambitious project to enhance the scenic values toward preserving biodiversity in the society. She also urged the MALT to come up with new innovative ideas and also to be a role model for rest of the Nagas toward biodiversity conservation.
Mopunchungket village council chairmen, Aosadang, also spoke at the programme.
Mention may be made here that Mopungchuket is a tourist village and ‘Greensight Project,’ as per MALT officials, is aimed at making the village a leading rural tourism destination in Nagaland and conveyed the message about conserving biodiversity to the people.
