As per Chronology and Historical background, it is found that the Assamese and the Nagas were from the same family who had lived together in Mongolia in ancient times. As per records available, there were two groups of people who come in contact with the Nagas at about 1228 AD. However the Assamese Kings and the Nagas chiefs had no intention of conquering each other territory and hence the Assamese Kings never regarded the Nagas as their subject.
From time immemorial the Assamese and the Nagas build up a strong and a time tested age old relationship which extended even in helping each other in all front of internal as well as external matters. The Assamese Kings and the Nagas chiefs even held a socio-political meet which was periodically held in the capital of Assamese Kingdom where knowledge and wisdoms of socio and economic relationship to enlighten the citizens were discussed.
History tells us that, another notable character of the Assamese and Naga relationship was trade and commerce where even sporting events such as Long Jump, High Jump, & High Kick were also organized forming a land mark in the relation between the Assamese and the Nagas. However, this peaceful relationship was marred by the intrusion of some outsiders who had created problems between the Assamese and Nagas, severely affecting the age old relationship between the two communities. Hence in the light of the above stated facts it is felt that a strong forum of friendship between Assamese of Golaghat District and Nagas of Wokha District should be formed so as to renew the age old friendship held a joint between the two communities. Therefore, leaders of the Assamese of Golaghat District and the Nagas of Wokha District held a joint meeting at Hotel Saramati Dimapur on the 26th of March 2012 and resolved to form a friendly forum of Assamese of Golaghat district and Nagas of Wokha district. Subsequently on 3rd of December 2012 the two community leaders met at the Lotha Tribal Council Hall Wokha and selected Office Bearers of the Friendship forum for strengthening and renewing the age-old friendship between the communities of two districts for cordial relationship and peaceful co-existence.
