- DIMAPUR — A
two-day training on Mahila Arogya Samiti (MAS), a community-based intervention
that involves all-women groups under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), was
conducted May on 13 and 14 at the conference hall of the chief medical officer
(CMO) in Mokokchung.
- During a brief inaugural programme, Dr. Takosunep, deputy
chief medical officer of Mokokchung, lauded the MAS members for their support
and contribution towards the health services. He also encouraged the MAS
members to continue working for the community, stated an update from CMO.
- Sentirenla Longchar, consultant (NUHM), emphasised the need
for MAS to promote community participation in health service activities such as
planning, implementing and monitoring health programmes. She also discussed on
the importance of maintaining records and management and accounting of untied
fund.

- Watisenla Jamir, DCM, highlighted the responsibilities of
key MAS members, understanding vulnerability and community health planning,
while Imnasenla Imchen, GNM of UPHC Yimyu, trained the MAS members on the various
determinants of health and their importance, monitoring and facilitating access
to essential public services and community monitoring of health care services.
- Altogether, 45 MAS members attended the training.
