Mokokchung, March 13
As part of its social responsibility to the fight against life threatening disease ‘Cancer,’ Mokokchung Arts & Aesthetics Management (MAAM) rendered help to three patients undergoing treatment at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) on March 12.
MAAM, as a voluntary organisation, has been organising Miss Mokokchung beauty pageant for some years. It has widened its horizon to fight against this life threatening disease by launching “Cancer Trust Fund” in October 2014 for cancer patients in need of treatment.
Miss Mokokchung 2015, Ayusangla Jamir, in her short speech, said cancer is a disease that could affect everyone virtually at any stage of our life. Ayusangla said cancer cause untold suffering physically, mentally and emotionally not only to the patients but also the families.
“Even if we are not affected by cancer, we might know family members or close friends whose lives were affected by scourge of cancer,” she said.
She also paid homage to the late Dr. Talitemsu, Oncologist, who had been the biggest supporter for the causes. “Even thought he is not with us anymore, we will always remember his guidance and contribution as the man with a big heart full of love and compassion for the poor,” she added.
She also acknowledged family members of late Mongtishilu Jamir for donating Rs one lakh towards MAAM cancer Trust Fund.
Guest of honour and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundaranjan, in his speech, lauded MAAM for bringing out the inner beauty to serve for a noble cause. He also encouraged MAAM to continue its noble task and also acknowledged donors for their generosity in the service to save life.
The programme was chaired by Yangerjunla, second runner-up of Miss Nagaland 2015, while the vote of thanks was pronounced by Medical Superintendent of IMDH, Dr. Medem, and invocation was pronounced by Bendang, Associate pastor of MTBA.
