Lumami campus welcomes new students

[caption id="attachment_204623" align="aligncenter" width="565"] Contestants of Mr & Mrs Fresher, judges, and NUSU members at the convocation on August 31.[/caption] Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): The Nagaland University Students’ Union at Lumami campus, observed its 21st ‘fresher’s day’ on August 31 at I Ihoshe Kinimi Hall on the theme ‘Cognisance of dawn,’ with the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Shanavas C as the event’s guest speaker. Speaking on the occasion, Shanavas stressed on dedication, diligence, being responsible, and to value social aspects of life to become someone great in the society. Dwelling his speech on the theme, NU vice chancellor Prof. Pardeshi Lala said the country need students who are physically and mentally alert to drive the nation on the right track. He acknowledged the government for making education a top priority with the introduction of MOOCs such as SWAYAM, NDL etc and advised the students to make full use of it. The programme was chaired by Medochulie Hillary Ceisotsu, while the invocation prayer was said by Ms Lituna Kinimi, convenor of Sumi Fellowship Lumami, NU. The welcome song was presented by Ao Fellowship NU, Lumami, followed by presidential address delivered by K Buche Khiamniungan, president NUSU (L). The vote of thanks was delivered by Jenato Achumi, NUSU (L) organising secretary and concluded with a benediction said by Ms Jetile, prayer secretary EUNU (L). The informal session was hosted by Yenwang WK and Ms Meribeni Odyuo, which saw talent display from the students. Akumsunep Longchar and Ms Sentirenla Ao were crowned Mr & Miss Fresher’s Nagaland University, Lumami 2018. In the individual titles, Mr Personality and Miss Congeniality were bagged by Luin Jamir and Ms Süyievelü Venuh respectively. Mr and Miss photogenic titles were awarded to Hamlang Konyak and Ms Mughani Phucho.
