LTSU organises literary competition

Dimapur, September 12: A one-day literary competition on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” was organised by Longleng Town Students’ Union (LTSU), in collaboration with District Task Force, was held at Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) Hall, Longleng, on September 10. Y Denngan Avennnoho Phom, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Task Force “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,” and Chingan Phom, President of Phom Peoples’ Council, graced the occasion as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. The chief guest, in his speech, stressed on the importance of girl’s education and emphasised on the necessity of eradicating early marriages amongst the Phom community. Altogether, 13 schools in Longleng district participated in the competition. The competitions were conducted in drama, trio singing, debate, essay writing, creative short story writing, painting and poem recitation. After thorough screening on the performances of different schools, Phom Lempong School was declared the overall champion of the competition. The programme concluded with the invocation prayer pronounced by Chingong Phom, Development Secretary of Phom Baptist Christian Association. A Angmau Phom, president of LTSU, in his address, welcomed the gathering and all the stakeholders especially the VDB conference, Phomla Hoichem, Dobashis and Phom Peoples’ Council. Lanunochet Pongen, Assistant Professor of Yingli College, spoke briefly on behalf of all the judges.
