Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): With the aim to instil values of culture in each student, Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS), Kiphire, observed its annual cultural day on September 23.
Observing cultural day in Loyola School, Kiphire, is one important programme in the academic calendar. The school provides wonderful opportunity for the students to revitalise the rich traditions handed down by the forefathers.
Addressing the students and teachers, who attended the programme with colourful traditional attires, the school principal Fr. Ntonse John, spoke on the importance of knowing our own unique identity through the knowledge of folksongs, folk tales/folklores, dances, ways of making/building houses and of equipping oneself with the skill of crafts-making and weaving which has seen a major decline today.
The teachers added colours to the celebration through their unique traditional melody prior to the programme. The items for the competition comprised of duet, group folk tune, group cultural dance, traditional attire show and cultural exhibition.
