Wokha, Aug. 31 (EMN): The apex Lotha women’s organisation Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) undertook on Friday a silent procession protesting the alleged rape of a minor girl in Wokha town. The date of the incident is not known but the alleged rape is said to have happened earlier this month.
The organisation submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of Wokha seeking punishment of the culprit.
The Wokha Circle Students’ Union (WCSU) also expressed support to the Lotha Eloe Hoho. The union strongly condemned the “inhuman and heinous” crime that was committed on a minor girl. The union warned that the union will not be mute spectators when their sisters are physically or sexually exploited by “repulsive and heartless creatures.”
The WCSU urges the law enforcement and authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter, book the culprit without delay and to award befitting punishment. The authorities are asked not to grant bail to the accused under any circumstances.
