Dimapur, Aug. 2 (EMN): The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) apprehended 15 people, who violated Inner Line Permit (ILP) regime, in Wokha district during a joint operation with the district administration and police department on August 1 to verify ILP.
The 15 ILP defaulters were “deported at 1:30 pm to a nearest border area accompanied by police and district administration,” stated a press release issued by LSU general secretary and ILP in-charge Ashanthung Humtsoe.
The LSU has expressed gratitude to the Wokha Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeelani Samoon (IAS), Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar IPS, SDO(C) Chonben Ezung and SDPO Wokha Imkongsangba Jamir for supporting the union and taking stern action against the defaulters as per the law.
The union has sought the general public to co-operate in its drive against people without ILP document and informed that it would continue the exercise from time to time to curb influx of illegal immigrants into the district. It added that it wouldn’t allow those without proper documents to stay in its jurisdiction.
The LSU has impressed upon the State government to implement the online ILP system reform recommendation which it had already submitted. It went on to state that it would strive to facilitate the government by identifying certain lapses in the system and assist the department to bring reformation.
