Dimapur, Jan. 17: An emergency meeting of Wokha town public, surrounding villages and all Lotha frontal organisations convened by the Lotha Hoho on Tuesday resolved to boycott the elections to urban local bodies.
The meeting, according to a Lotha Hoho press release, was held at Police point, Wokha. “The general public including many candidates also in unison at the top of their voices agreed to support the decision of the Naga organisations and to safeguard the provisions of Article 371A, for the good of the Naga future generation,” it stated.
During the meeting, the gathering decided to have another meeting of all the colonies of Wokhatown and Bhandari town on January 20 next at LTC hall at 11 am. “Each household of Wokha town to be represented by a member and Bhandari town to be represented by all colony leaders with at least five members from each colony. The resolutions adopted in this meeting to be presented to each colony and each colony will meet the next day i.e. the 21st January for follow up action of the resolutions,” it stated.
Also, the Lotha Hoho will convene a general public meeting on January 28 next at 11 am at Wokha public ground. “All the village councils of Wokha district to attend the meeting with at least 10 members. The resolutions of 20th January 2017 are to be presented for implementation.
“All the village councils are requested to contribute funds for supporting the Joint Action Committee and its thousands of volunteers for the execution of the action plan which can also be brought at the meeting. The Kohima Lotha Hoho and Dimapur Lotha Hoho are also directed to attend the meeting positively.”
