
WOKHA: Lotha Hoho organised its general meeting-cum-felicitation of four Lotha legislators and Dr. Chumben Murry, advisor to chief minister, at LTC hall in Wokha town on May 9.
Speaking at the programme, the deputy chief minister and in-charge of Home and Border Affairs, Y Patton, has advocated on preserving of wild life as well as promote Lotha traditional practices and language.
Informing that Wokha district has the highest number of drug users, he urged the public to report such cases to the police so that they could be sent to rehabilitation centre. Besides, he also urged to document Lotha culture, attire and even the names of animals as a source of information for the younger generations.
Also speaking on the occasion, the advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yathan, called upon the community to catch up with the fast changing society and to change for better through their thoughts, actions and words. As change cannot happen overnight, he urged them to make it a habit.
Yathan also urged the congregation to bring an end to social evils such as drugs and gambling in the district. He also encouraged the youth not to focus on short term benefits but to have an end result.
MLA from 38 Wokha AC, YM Humtsoe, stated that prayer alone would help in achieving goals but equal efforts and endless hard work with perseverance would help in bringing the desirable change in society. He felt that Lotha had failed many times in the past due to wrong decisions among the stakeholder and general public.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]He, therefore, called upon every individual to come on board and work in cohesion for the progress of Wokha community. He further reminded the congregation to love, respect and give equal importance to women as play a major role in all round development of the society.
Achumbemo Kikon, MLA from 40 Bhandari AC, stated that Lothas are more advance in thoughts and ideas among the Nagas but lack unity. Stating that the legislators alone cannot do anything, he called upon the Lotha community to work in unity to bring about a change.
Meanwhile, the advisor to chief minister of Nagaland, Dr. Chumben Murry, has sought the public support towards the government to resolve various issues. He called upon the Lotha Hoho to envision for one common platform of Naga to discuss and bring about permanent settlement to the long awaited Naga political issue.
During the general meeting, the house unanimously accepted the revised and updated Lotha Hoho constitution. The programme was attended by representatives from all the Lotha frontal organisations.
