Authorises Lotha Hoho to represent the tribe in all consultations, decision-making and signing of any document related to the Naga political settlement

Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Frontal organisations of the Lotha community have demanded that the ‘agreed points or competencies between the government of India and the Naga political negotiators’ should be made public before signing the final agreement.

A press release from the Lotha Hoho on Monday informed that this demand was made during a meeting held at Wokha town on September 23.

The frontal organisations also authorised the Lotha Hoho to represent the Lotha tribe in all consultations, decision-making and signing of any document related to the Naga political settlement, it informed.

“The house also resolved that if any member of the Lotha Hoho is, in any way threatened or opposed, by any group or individual, in the initiatives of Naga political settlement, the Lotha tribe will take collective stern action against the culprit.

“The house also recalled that the Naga political movement took its roots in the Lotha soil starting with NNC formation in February 1946 at Wokha, 1951 at Sanis to decide on Naga Plebiscite, 1956 at Lakhuti for installation of FGN, the first Naga army general Yanpamo Lotha, World War II military medal, sacrificed with his life on November 6, 1956, while fighting the Indian Army at N Longidang village, Late Khodao Yanthan was a confidant and vice chairman of AZ Phizo and remained vice chairman, till his death, the NNC had its convention at Wokha in 1964 and resolved to accept the first ceasefire with the Indian army,” it stated.

“In 1994 the Nagas of Nagaland convened a meeting at Wokha and the Naga Hoho was formed. Recounting these historic events that took place in Lotha soil it is testified that the Lotha people have sacrificed and suffered much like any Naga and the Lotha Hoho fully support the Naga national movement and settlement. Likewise all Nagas must sacrifice petty personal differences and work unitedly for the common Naga cause,” it added.
