DIMAPUR — The Lotha Catholic Khümshüm Kohima (LCKK) is all set to celebrate its golden jubilee on February 22 at the LCKK community hall, Peraciezie, Kohima.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration will be led by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of the Diocese of Kohima, as the main celebrant. The event will also be attended by Yanthungo Martin Patton, Deputy Chief Minister as the special guest, the LCKK stated in an update.
The golden jubilee will be observed on theme, “One in Christ, united in mission,” reflecting the community’s commitment to unity, evangelisation, and collective responsibility in strengthening the mission of the Church.

Jubilee flag will be hoisted by Rev. Fr. Matthew Mhabemo, Parish Priest, St. Francis De Sales Church Kohima. The programme will also witness the blessing of the golden jubilee monolith and grotto by Bishop James Thoppil. Following the blessing, the jubilee monolith will be formally unveiled by the deputy chief minister.
“A particularly significant moment during the celebration will be the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation to 63 faithful members of the community by the Bishop,” it stated.
Tracing its roots back to the early 1970s, the LCKK began with a small group of devoted Catholic faithful, many of whom were government employees posted in Kohima. Despite humble beginnings and limited resources, their unwavering faith and determination led to the formal establishment of the community in 1976.
In preparation for the jubilee, the community has undertaken a series of spiritual retreats and prayer sessions aimed at deepening faith, fostering unity, and encouraging spiritual renewal among its members.
“These preparatory programmes have provided an opportunity for reflection on the journey of the past fifty years while inspiring renewed zeal for the mission ahead,” it added.
