
Catholic priests along with the members of Lotha Catholic
Eloe Khumshum Kohima during its silver jubilee in Kohima on Thursday.
- KOHIMA — The
Lotha Catholic Eloe Khumshum Kohima (LCEK) celebrated its silver jubilee on
Thursday at Peraciezie (Gasia) on the theme "I have the strength to face
all conditions by the power that Christ gave me" (Philippians 4:13).
- The celebration began with a Holy Eucharist led by Rev. Fr.
Mathew Mhabemo, parish priest of St. Francis De Sales Church, Kohima, as the
main celebrant. He also dedicated and unveiled the jubilee monolith, stated an
update from LCEK.
- In his homily, Rev. Fr. Matthew Rhanben, parish priest of
St. Joseph's Church, Longleng, congratulated the women's association on
completing 25 years of service. He emphasised that a jubilee is not merely
about gatherings, feasting, forgiveness, unity or peace but holds a deeper
spiritual significance.
- He encouraged the congregation to extend love and support
the poor, widows, orphans and all those in need. He highlighted that the true
essence of jubilee is fulfilled when acts of kindness is extended to others, as
the prayers of the needy bring blessings to those who help them.
- Rev. Fr. Rhanben wished the gathering a meaningful jubilee
and prayed for peace, unity, prosperity and success in future endeavours.
- The jubilee flag was hoisted by Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Charalel,
chancellor and secretary of the Commission for School Education, Diocese of
Kohima, while the jubilee hall was dedicated by Rev. Fr. K Dominic Rau,
assistant parish priest of St. Francis De Sales Church, Kohima, and the jubilee
souvenir was launched by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Gaikhang.
- The lighting of the jubilee candle was done by Rev. Fr.
Glanson Chacko, director of Ave Maria Divine Prayer Centre, Zhadima.
- The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by
Nyanbeni Lotha, jubilee convenor.
