Longtsunger village in Kiphire declares the expulsion of three GBs and nine village guards following an attack
DIMAPUR — The citizens of Longtsunger village in Kiphire district have declared the termination of three gaon burahs (GBs) and called for the revocation of nine village guard (VG) posts, alleging betrayal and dereliction of duty during a recent attack on the village.
The decision was taken during a General Village Assembly held on November 1, following what the village described as a breach of community safety, trust and official duty.
In a declaration and proclamation issued by the Longtsunger Village Citizen, the villagers alleged that three GBs, identified as T T Tsangli, P Yanmong and K Yongpanthong, had colluded with external elements by inviting intruders from the Kiusam Area, identified as Tikhir volunteers, to attack the village.
In view of the alleged act of betrayal, the village assembly declared that their GB status had been revoked and terminated with immediate effect.
The declaration further stated that nine VGs under the Government of Nagaland, posted in Longtsunger Village, had failed to perform their mandated duty to protect and defend the village during the attack, allegedly fleeing their posts instead.
The village authority formally called for the removal and revocation of the nine sanctioned VG posts from Longtsunger village.
It further declared that the three former GBs, nine VGs, and all households, families and relatives who fled and abandoned the village had been permanently expelled from Longtsunger village over what it described as acts of betrayal and gross neglect of duty.
The village assembly stated that the declaration would take effect from November 1, 2026, as an official and binding proclamation of Longtsunger village.
The declaration was signed by P Torepkiu, President, and S Tothong, Executive Chairman of the Longtsunger Village Citizen.
