Longterok FC edge 27 United FC in Nagaland Super League play-off

  • DIMAPUR — Longterok FC clinched a hard-fought 2–1 victory over 27 United FC in the first play-off of the inaugural Nagaland Super League (NSL) at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Monday evening.


  • The first half ended 1-1, with both goals coming from the penalty spot. Longterok FC’s possession was largely confined to their half, while 27 United FC appeared sharp and dominant from the start.


  • Despite Ngansang hitting the woodwork in the 34th minute and Jangjakin Kuki coming close again in the 82nd minute, 27 United FC could not break Longterok FC’s defence in the second half. Manton’s second goal in the 53rd minute proved decisive as Longterok FC secured their place in the semifinals.


  • The Player of the Match was I Kumzuk (Longterok FC, goalkeeper), who made crucial saves throughout the match. With this victory, Longterok FC moves one step closer to the Nagaland Super League title, securing their place in the semifinals.


  • The second play-off will be played on March 25 in which Barak FC will face Nagaland United SC.
