DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 19: A two-day programme on entrepreneurship, career guidance, recruitment drive and clean election campaign was conducted in Longleng district headquarter on September 15 and 16 by YouthNet under the banner “Impact 5000 by 18” in partnership with Longleng Town Students’ Union (LTSU).
YouthNet team comprising of young professionals namely Lezo Putsure, Nune Chase, Ebibeni Humtsoe and John Meyase were the resource persons for different programmes which were held simultaneously at various venues.
Focusing on issues of unemployment and corruption prevalent in the state, resource persons stressed on the importance of skill building amongst the youngsters and prospects of entrepreneurial ventures which would not only help to earn for oneself but also create opportunities for others as well. They also emphasised on the need to inculcate the culture of looking beyond government jobs for livelihood. About 600 students from eight schools participated in two-day career guidance programmes.
Seminar on entrepreneurship was conducted at Yingli Government College, Longleng, where students actively participated in the workshop.
YouthNet team also had an interactive session with local entrepreneurs of Longleng and enlightened on prospects of business expansion, accounts maintenance, training opportunities, financial assistance programmes and schemes etc.
Information booth for job seekers was set up in the main town where interested persons availed information on recruitment and job opportunities.
Stakeholders and representatives from the district administration, Election department, Phom Students’ Conference and YouthNet Clean Election Campaign Ambassadors of the district, Lenke Phom and Longshen Phom also delivered speeches.
