- DIMAPUR — The
15th National Voters' Day was held at the DPDB hall, Longleng, on January 25,
on the theme 'Nothing like voting, I vote for sure,' with Deputy Commissioner
and DEO Longleng, W Manpai Phom, as the special guest.
- According to a DIPR report, in his speech, Manpai
congratulated the best booth level officer (BLO) awardees and acknowledged the
efforts of the BLOs in maintaining a clean and genuine electoral roll to ensure
free and fair elections in the district.
- The DC urged young registered voters to be agents of change
and set a good example by casting their vote fearlessly, without being
influenced by others. He also administered the voter's pledge to the gathering.
- Additional Deputy Commissioner and Electoral Registration
Officer (ERO) A Longdhimen Jamir delivered the keynote address and appealed to
the gathering to exercise their franchise to choose an efficient leader for the
nation's change and development.
- He also spoke on the negative aspects of democracy in India
and urged the participants to uphold the democratic traditions of the country.
- The best BLOs were awarded to B Nyakyung Phom of 50 A/C
Longleng and H. Chingkam Phom of 49 A/C Tamlu.
- BLO Nyakyung spoke on behalf of the BLOs of the district and
encouraged the gathering to bring about changes in society through the power of
voting rights. The Best BLO award was presented by the DC of Longleng, and a
song was performed by Lichai Phom.
- The district election office, Shamator, also celebrated the
15th National Voters' Day at DB court, Shamator, with DC and DEO Shamator,
Chubatemjen, as the special guest.
- During the programme, the voter's pledge was administered by
Athrong, SDO (C) Shamator, who also presented awards to the best BLOs, winners
of the essay competition, and distributed EPICs to new voters.
