Longleng health workers discuss elimination of measles, rubella

Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN): A workshop on measles elimination and rubella control was conducted in the office of the chief medical officer on December 14 in Longleng. The establishment of the chief medical officer of Longleng district issued a press release on Saturday informing about the event.

Dr. Victoria, no surname given in the press release, of the World Health Organisation (WHO), was the resource person for the workshop.

In her presentation, she spoke about global and national updates and the way forward in measles elimination and rubella control activities. Besides, she talked about surveillance, measles mortality, feasibility factors of rubella elimination, and the proposed strategic objectives for 2020-2024, and sensitisation, among others.

A local health official, Dr Imnameren Phom, also gave a presentation. The official spoke about district updates on surveillance, progress in the elimination of measles and control of rubella, reprioritisation using surveillance data, and of district weekly review meetings, the press release stated. 

Health officials and workers from various health units and area establishments attended the programme, the updates stated.
