Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): The Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting and felicitation programme for the elected members was held on April 20 in the conference hall of deputy commissioner.
Congratulating the two elected members of Longleng district namely S Pangnyu Phom and BS Nganlang Phom for their election victory, the deputy commissioner, John Tsulese Sangtam said he was looking forward with great expectation to work for the welfare of the people.
Addressing the board members, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom highlighted about abolition of VIP culture and the motto of the PDA government to change the system to ensure peace, stability and progress in the state. He asserted that VIP culture cannot be eliminated and change can never take place in the state unless the government officers and the elected members who are directly linked with the people take the initiatives and adhere to the call of the government.
He informed that the cabinet under the leadership of the chief minister is firm and determined to change the prevailing situation in the state.
The minister also sought cooperation and support of the officers for proper management and implementation of govt. schemes and projects. He called upon the officers to share their views and come forward with proposals and innovative ideas to convert Nagaland to a vibrant society.
MLA BS Nganlang Phom, in his speech congratulated Pangnyu for his new assignment as a minister and chairman of DPDB. He lauded the officers led by the DC for the smooth and peaceful conduct of election in the district.
He emphasized on cooperation, proper execution of role and responsibility of the officers for real change and also urged the officers to avoid and change the system the predecessors were following.
Asserting that every department has a unique assignment irrespective of their size and strength, the legislator urged the officers to be active in their assignment.
Pangnyu also gave away the prizes to the winners of the essay, drawing and painting competition conducted under Beti Pachao Beti Padhao (BPBP) (Save girl child, educate her) program.
Extra assistant commissioner, Longleng, Robi Sangtam presented on activities of BPBP while MS district hospital and chief medical officer presented their departmental activities.
