Newmai News Network TAMENGLONG, AUGUST 10 [dropcap]M[/dropcap]anipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam inaugurated and dedicated to the people a bailey bridge constructed over Leimatak river under Nungba constituency in Tamenglong district of Manipur on Friday. The 200 feet-long bailey bridge is the longest one ever built in Manipur. Works minister, Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Chief Engineer, PWD, M Lokendro, Additional Chief Engineer, Ch Tiken and other officials were also present on the occasion.Addressing the function, Gaikhangam informed that a 66 MW hydropower project is to be implemented by Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corp (LDHC) at Leimatak soon. The project being sponsored by the Loktak Hydel project of NHPC, envisages construction of a barrage over Leimatak river at Toushang under Tamenglong district at a cost of Rs 867.77 crore.
