Mon DC asks drivers to avail EDC, announces photo contest

Dimapur, March 29 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner and district election officer, Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS, has informed all the drivers under Mon district, whose vehicles have been requisitioned for election duty for the upcoming general elections, to collect and submit Form -12A and election duty certificate (EDC) from the office of the deputy commissioner and district election officer, Mon during the office hours on or before April 5. All the drivers availing EDC should enclose a copy of the vehicle requisition order along with EPIC or other relevant document and with photo, informed an update from K.K.Chim, IA Mon.
Thavaseelan has also announced a photo contest for newly enrolled and young voters aged between 18 and 21 from the district with an aim to encourage them to participate in the election process. Participants can send in photos with placard containing quotes on “Clean Election” and “Ethical Voting” between March 30 and April 9.
Here are guidelines for the photo contest:
- Participants must capture the photo holding a placard with quotes written on it.
- The quotes must be original
- Post it on social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc., using the hash tags #EVERYVOTECOUNTS
# SVEEPMONDISTRICT.
- Send the screenshot of the social media post through WhatsApp to 8837225709.
- Best three entries will with a cash prize of INR 5000, INR 3000 and INR 2000 respectively.
Longleng DC issues several election-related notices
Deputy Commissioner and assistant returning officer, Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam has informed that to ensure the eligible voters, who are election duty, exercise their adult franchise, election duty certificate will being issued as mentioned below:
- Issue and submission of form 12A for voters from other district is from March 21 to March 30.
- Issue and submission of form 12A for voters from Longleng district is from March 21 to April 5.
- A copy of election duty order should be attached while submitting the Form 12A, which will be issued at EDC Cell DC’s office complex, Longleng. Application will not be entertained after the deadline ends.
Sangtam has asked all the sector magistrate, heads of department and nodal officers under various team/cell to be present in station with immediate effect till the election process is over, saying that appropriate action will be taken as per law against those who don’t attend meetings/trainings, according to a statement issued by DPRO, Longleng.
The DC also informed through a notification that that the 2nd and 3rd phase of training for all the polling officers will be held on March 29 for residing officers and 1st polling officers, and March 30 for 2nd and 3rd polling officers. The polling personnel have been asked to reach the GHSS, Longleng at 9 am sharp along with two copies of passport photograph. The HODs will be held responsible if their respective staff don’t attend the meeting.
The 3rd phase of training is scheduled to take place on April 4 and 5th at GHSS, Longleng at 9 am.
Bus service will be provided for polling officials under Tamlu Sub Division who are attending the training, so the polling personnel have been asked to contact the ADC Tamil for bus timing.
The 2nd phase training for presiding officers and 1st polling officers in Tuensang started on March 29 at GHSS, Tuensang. Addressing the officials, DC and DEO Tuensang, Mohammad Ali Shihab, IAS asked the polling officers to be sensitive and committed in their duties. He also informed the officials that there will be hands-on training on EVM and VVPAT handling for everyone at the DC Office premises, said an update from DPRO and IA Tuensang.
In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the by-election to the 26 Aonglenden assembly constituency, the 2nd round of election training for the presiding officers and first polling officials was held at Mayangnokcha GHSS, Mokokchung on March 29.
An update from DPRO Mokokchung said that the master trainers instruction the polling officials on procedures to be followed for smooth conduct of electioneering process along with demonstration on EVM/VVPAT application during the training programme. Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS along with administrative officers inspected the conduct of the training.
Training for second polling and third polling officials is underway at Phek, informed an update from DPRO and IA Phek. The training was given by 10 masters trainers along with administrative officers. DC Phek appreciated the trainees for their sincerity and co-operation and asked them to give their best effort.
