DIMAPUR — Nagaland
State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) successfully settled 354 cases worth INR
5,46,87,912 during the 4th quarterly National Lok Adalat held across the state
on Saturday, thereby ensuring timely relief and justice for the litigants.
An update from NSLSA stated that the National Lok Adalat was
across the districts with 11 benches. It added that a total of 456 cases were
taken up during the proceedings, out of which 354 cases were amicably resolved.
The cases encompassed a wide range of disputes including bank recovery cases,
motor accident claims and other matters, highlighting the effectiveness of
alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in reducing the burden on the
judiciary.
The Lok Adalat was held under the guidance of NSLSA
executive chairman and judge at Gauhati High Court, Justice Manash Ranjan
Pathak, along with member secretary, Neiko Akami, and the district and sessions
judges, chief judicial magistrate, judicial magistrate (first class) as the
presiding officers.
In Mokokchung, the Lok Adalat held at district court complex
disposed off a total of 19 bank cases with a settlement amount of INR
37,79,725.04, while in Dimapur a total of 120 pre-litigation cases and 7
pending trial cases were taken up and 85 cases were disposed off with a total
settlement amount of INR 1,80,12,570.
In Wokha, a total of 10 pre-litigation bank recovery cases
and 3 pending trial bank recovery were disposed off with settlement amount of
INR 10,68467, while in Tuensang 12 bank cases were disposed of with a
settlement amount of INR 29,10,400.
In Zunheboto, 6 pre-litigation cases were disposed off with
a total settlement amount of INR 15,35,797, while in Kohima 23 cases were
disposed off with settlement amount of INR 2,886,010.
In Phek, 20 matters of pre-litigation bank recovery cases of
SBI Phek and NStCB (Phek, Pfutsero and Chozuba) were taken up and disposed off
with a settlement amount of INR 20,57,113, while in Mon 4 pre-litigation bank
recovery cases were settled with the settlement amount of INR 11,07293.
In Peren, 7 pre-litigation cases were taken up and disposed
off with settlement amount of INR 8,81,500, while in Longleng 9 bank recovery
cases were disposed off with the settlement amount of INR 13,88,824 and in
Kiphire 41 bank loan recovery cases were disposed off with the settlement
amount of INR 53,88,037.
