
Dimapur, June 7 (EMN): Considering the critical situation arising out of the global Covid-19 pandemic, Ahthibung Region Club (ARC) in Peren district provided preventive materials and essential commodities to the returnees of Songlhuh village. Those returnees went to other states in search of job and livelihood but situation forced them to return homes.
ARC along with the youth wing of Songlhuh village and in collaboration with Assam Rifles post at Ahthibung provided the commodities to the returnees, an update from ARC general secretary Ziansin stated on Sunday.
ARC was of the view that every effort is worth in this critical situation as the state or central government alone cannot do much without the help of society. It stated that ARC living up to its motto "Serving the nation" by initiating such drives.
It stated that ARC volunteers are fulfilling its duty by organising awareness lectures and door-to-door campaigns to make people aware on the seriousness of the situation.
The returnees are sheltered at the village community hall arranged by the villagers and their family members. ARC further vowed reaching out to needy people on its own capacity even in the days to come.
