MOKOKCHUNG, JUNE 17: As part of social initiatives, the IOC & Kumlong taxi unit of Mokokchung donated three wooden benches to Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital in Mokokchung town, on Friday.
The IOC & Kumlong taxis ply from Kumlong ward in the town through to NH 702D, popularly known as Mariani road. It is one of the active taxi units in the town. The taxi unit undertakes social initiatives from time to time.
The gesture for the hospital was undertaken under the theme ‘In the service of the people.’ The taxi unit has expressed hope that the benches would be of help to patients and attendants at the hospital.
Formally receiving the benches on behalf of the hospital’s management, medical superintendent Dr Medem expressed heartfelt gratitude to the taxis for the kind gesture. “This is a great example for others to emulate, and I am sure that this kind of noble work would open the eyes and heart of many people,” Dr Medem said.
Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital is the only government hospital in the town and caters to hundreds of patients every year not only from Mokokchung district but also from neighboring districts such as Tuensang, Zunheboto, Longleng, and Wokha.
Various organizations and individuals have contributed to the growth of the hospital.
